About Canaan Press

Lynette Leitch writes…
When our son died from a malignant brain tumour in 2002, I wanted to write a book that would help others facing similar situations.

Getting a book published, unless you have contacts or a degree of celebrity status, can be a lengthy and disheartening affair. The decision to set up a Trust Fund to offer holidays to families dealing with life-limiting illness also motivated us to start our own publishing company. Now, all profits from our first book are donated to the Trust. Writing our son’s story was a cathartic journey for me, but also an exciting introduction to book publishing.

We have since discovered there are many people with amazing stories to tell but who need a helping hand to get published. At Canaan Press we offer an opportunity to potential authors to participate in a major way in the whole process of publishing their work, and allow them to keep the lion’s share of the fruits of their labours. They, in return, contribute to a very worthy cause.

Mark Leitch writes…
Lynette is a far more vocal person than me and easily able to express what she is feeling. Writing is not my strong point, but I have come to appreciate the written word, the more so since the inception of Canaan Press.

I am encouraged by the number of talented people who have something valuable to contribute to the literary world and am motivated by a desire to help them achieve their dream. Matt’s Canaan Trust and Canaan Press are fitting tributes to a loved and much-missed son.
